I am Famous

Two weeks ago now, us labbers did an interview with the BBC. It was fun, I said lots of outrageous things. I was disappointed that my “I do my best not to learn from other people’” comment didn?t make it in.

Anyway, the article is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3632757.stm. You can also listen to the radio interview here: http://www.theworld.org/content/04194.wma

Popular nerd website Slashdot picked up the story and it was hotly debated for a while. People seems to get their knickers knotted for my comments on national sovereignty. So just when I thought I couldn’t be any more popular, Deebs forwards me this email:

Dear Professor Deibert,

On behalf of the Raelian Movement’s offices in Asia, I would like to congratulate you and your team for your exemplary work through the “Net Commandos”.

Our organization’s founder, H.H. Rael, made the following comment: “The kind of thing we really need in order to fight government censorsip of the Web. Especially for countries censoring the Raelian Movement website, like China.”

Your work brought to mind an article which appeared on Technology Review in July of 2002, of which I include a copy in case you’d like to give it a read (I put in bold letters the relevant part).

Sincerely,
Lluisa Baques
The Raelian Movement
