So i figured out how the last clue works.

The person didn’t actually do binary to letter conversion in the standard 8 bit form. They used binary to give a number corresponding to a letter of the alphabet.

The message reads as follows:

Planted for the provost not this theatre

Weird. Doesn’t make much sense.

for anyone who would like to know a provost is:
1. A university administrator of high rank.
2. The highest official in certain cathedrals or collegiate churches.
3. The keeper of a prison.
4. The chief magistrate of certain Scottish cities.

looking forward to the next clue.
