Oceania’s Inferiorities

Australia is weird in many ways:
- Toilets are often in their own rooms, as in the shower and sink are in a separate and not necessarily adjacent room.
- Restaurants and other semi-public places have restrooms that feature troughs, where you pee communally.
- Australians feel its ok to truncate just about every word in ways that are not particularly logical, instead of afternoon they say things that sound like ‘arvo’. There are many, many others, i will try and catalog them.
- You need to be careful in how you indicate that you would like two of something, an improper orientation of the hand with two fingers raised apparently means something akin to ‘fuck off, cunt face’
- Its not warm all the time, yet people dress as though it is. It is a windy and chilly 12 degrees outside; yet people insist on wearing shorts and t-shirts and then bitch vociferously about the weather.

Also, the whole driving on the wrong side of the road translates to walking and escalators. I keep finding myself being ‘that guy’, you know, the asshole standing on the wrong side of the escalator (that?s IF I?ve managed to try and walk up the right one) or on the wrong side of the sidewalk.

It’s all worth it however for the cute girl behind me rocking out to Saves the Day.
