Re-P’eh’triated

I am now in Vancouver, hanging out with my sister and jlem.  Canadians sound funny.  And i keep looking the wrong way when crossing the street.  Is nice to be back though.

The journey was epic.  After staying at Simon’s hovel in Sydney, we got up at 5 am and he drove me to the airport.  He needed the key to unlock the trunk to remove my suitcase, and the car then failed to start.  Battery was dead.  I checked in while simon waited for friends to show up and boost it.  The parking lady was understanding, friendly and immensely racist.   I bought simon a hot chocolate and then the cavalry showed up, jumped the car and they were off.

I squeaked on to the plane.  It was full and loud as the entire Australian women’s rugby team was on it, heading to the world cup in Edmonton.  I couldn’t buy any scotch at the duty free because the we are letting the terrorists win.  Bad movies… food… blah.

I barely managed to get back on at Honolulu.  Standby can be killer sometimes.  I slept poorly between two gigantic rugby players and woke up in Vancouver at the exact same time on the same day that i left sydney, though i had travelled for 17 hours.

Since then i have had a haircut, dropped off my film, and hung out with Lisa and Jen.  Tomorrow I am off to see the grandparents and show em the wedding photos.  I also need to organize a job interview in toronto, which is nice.

I miss my wife terribly. But i know she’ll be here soon.  I miss melbourne and my friends there too.  I look forward to seeing all my toronto friends too. Am very between worlds at the moment. In the void as it were.
